Windows 7 Is Catching On

"We barely knew ya"

2001 has called, it is looking for Windows XP. Five months after it's initial release, Microsoft Windows 7 operating system has over 10% of the market share. This compares favorably to it's older brother Windows Vista, which only has 16% after two years. Combined, both lag behind the behemoth of Windows XP which still corners over 65% of the market. It's like a dog that just wont die.

  1. I had no idea that XP still had that many users though I completely understand why after using Vista for so long. I hate Vista and used to enjoy XP so I envy those who did not make the switch. I have heard some good things about Windows 7 but am not planning on switching over until I require a new computer. Vista is so full of pain in the butt features that frustrate me nearly every time I turn on my computer. I'm sure in about 1 year Vista user percentage will be down from 16% to practically 0% if Windows 7 is a great as people mention.

  2. I think that eventually, XP will be obsolete and people will have a choice to either switch to what is available. I can understand the problems most people are facing; they rather stick with what they know and are easier for them to work with than to go with something new. However, people will have to readjust to what is available to them because the "dog" will eventually die.

  3. Although most computers may come with the newest version of Windows already installed, many of us are living in the past. I know my master computer still operates on Windows XP. Scientifically, those statistics for Windows 7 will change as culturally, we catch on to its artistic effects. Interesting topic.

  4. i agree with will, Vista is dumb and XP had it's stuff together. I have tried the new Windows 7 and I love it. I think about having in installed onto my relatively newer laptop very soon. Science will always be present in the upgrade process becuase it takes alot of technical support and brilliance. Art agian through design. and Culture becuase weveryone talka about the way thier system treats the.

  5. I agree with the others that Vista was a nightmare. I use both XP and Window 7 everyday. I have XP on my work computer and Windows 7 on my laptop. I think that Windows 7 is a great operating system. It is definitely the coolest looking/most artistic of the operating systems and has lots of transparancies and animations. Using both systems on a daily basis lets me realize how much I prefer Windows 7, I think it is easier to use. I think that Windows 7 has fixed most of the problems we experienced with Vista and the the dog that is XP will eventually die.

  6. With the current state of global economics I expect Windows XP to continue to own a greater precentage of the marketshare.

Many who have an older computer that came preloaded with Windows XP aren't in a positon to upgrade their entire system or multiple systems in their home.

Much of the advancement is continuing to force users to have to make larger monetary decisions as software is now consuming more resources than the hardware it can run on and this will continue to be the trend.

    Consumers are finicky people.

  7. With all of the technology, I can see something even better coming to light. I have Vista and I hate it. It is not compatible with many systems. Anytime I send a document to someone, 9 times out of 10 I end up faxing it because it is not compatible. I am eager for something new and I am sure there are many more people that feel this way. We need more creativity.
